Just under 6 years ago when the mayor came into office He made a conscious decision that it was cheaper to neglect our critical infrastructure and spend your tax dollars else where , today we have massive problems. We have a director of public works who appears not only to be clueless but is happy to extol the virtues of flawed reasoning provided it allows him to retain his job and increase his pension . It’s time Deodat Budhu was replaced and anyone who thinks he is doing a service to the public should have their mental health evaluated. Money is being syphoned out of the city through the public works department and it can be proved. However that’s for another day.

Today let’s look at the water billing apparently A third of the people who reside in the city live in households that are on estimated billing that amounts to approximately 6000 meter that do not function or are unreliable. These people are on estimated accounts some have been on estimated accounts since the mayor took office . Why? Because he made that decision rather than implement a program of replacement meters, he would rather allow the public to suffer so he could more easily balance budgets.

At a budget workshop less than a month ago Rod Olsen directly asked Deodat Budhu if he had everything he required in the finances for the budget , so he was lying when he answer in the affirmative .

People understand this you are being played and lied to , your solution is to make sure you make it to the next budget meeting and tell them NO! you are not prepared to pay estimated billing and you need for them to be accountable for their actions.

At the last meeting I quickly did some calculations that suggested we were two million dollars short in the budget just for supplying new meters in fact having now fully researched this It’s likely to be considerably more it’s no longer just about swapping out meters the new meters require to be powered from the home owners supply that’s going to more than double the labor cost involved and because of the city originally having scattered development our density is one third as much as similar municipalities meaning we need three times as many base stations to receive and transmit data , we are being treated as fools the mayor admits he doesn't listen to us he even admitted he switched of microphones at last city hall meeting to silence us prevent us being heard as is our constitutionally protected right.

Commissioners Nick Nesta Diane Velazquez , I guarantee you we will be flooding the budget meeting If residents don’t get answers to questions they are asking I think they will have to shut the meeting down , at the last meeting the administration showed little respect for the public , I’m used to that it’s always been like that but how do you think the mayor telling a little old lady talking about flushing waste down her toilet to sit down and shut up is going to go down , and we have people afraid to flush their toilets ? Sanitation is the corner stone of hygienic practices
